** I reached out to Reading Eggs because we have been such long-time users. Everything that is stated below is my own honest opinion about the program.**
Our Reading Egg Backstory
I discovered Reading Eggs about 5 years ago when my youngest was 4. We had bought all the pre-k curriculum, but I noticed that she would lose interest pretty quick. I was concerned as this was new territory for me. After a few months of being disinterested, I spoke with another homeschool mom who raved about how this little talking egg and ant made her child’s day.
After the girls went to bed that night I hopped on the computer to hunt this program. I assumed it would be another program that I would waste money on because they would never actually learn anything. Boy, I was so wrong! Megan not only started picking up letters instantly, but she also began to really want to read and keep in mind that she was 4.
She was going through the lessons so fast that I was afraid she wouldn’t retain the information. I limited her time to about 15 minutes every day. Fast forward a few years and she has since completed the program.
Why I Think Reading Eggs Worked
One of my favorite things about this program is that it makes learning fun. The little ant that guides you through the program helps you sound out every phonetic phrase and all the letters.
Every Child Learns Differently
I know every child learns differently and that for some this program would be too overwhelming due to the bright visual colors. My 7-year-old daughter is dyslexic and while she does love Reading Eggs, after a while it is over stimulating for her. This is one of the main reasons that I love homeschooling. I am able to adjust our material accordingly to suit the needs of my kids.
How Reading Eggs Works
Your child can take their assessment on the website and it will place them for you. This simple test is optional and your child can start at the beginning if you would like.
It Tracks Everything For You
In the progress report, you will find everything that your child has completed. It will show you the books they have read, quizzes, and more.
Early Learning
You can begin the program at the age of 2, with the Reading Eggs Junior. It is never too early to start learning even if it is at a slow simple pace. Remember at 2, most children only have a 5-7 minute focus span.

Hairstyles says
Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!

I’m sure that will be a memory you both will remember for years to come.
