Choosing A Math Program

Its that time of year again. Where us homeschooling moms have worked all summer to find the perfect curriculum for our kids. I have always used a box curriculum until this past school year. My daughter was really struggling with her math and it just wasn’t working for her. I would get frustrated thinking that she wasn’t paying attention, but that wasn’t the case.

My Thoughts On Teaching Textbooks 3.0

A friend recommended that we try out the Teaching Textbooks. I had tried several other math programs and I wasn’t impressed with them. I knew I had to do something so I purchased the online version. At the time it was by invitation only, so I called the company to find out if I could get an invite. The man on the phone was happy to get me a link sent and I got us set up right away. We hadn’t gotten too far into the lessons when my daughter (Meg) declared that she loved this new program. I kept thinking to myself that there is no way it would last. Weeks went by and I realized that this program was such a blessing. I am so glad that a sweet mom took the time to chat with me about teaching textbooks.

Fast forward to this year and I am happy to say that we love Teaching Textbooks. The approach that it uses to teach kids math is amazing. I love that it breaks down all the steps and has plenty of examples.

They break it down in a way that is easy for kids to understand. I love being able to watch my daughter succeed and enjoy math once again. My 1^st grader asks all the time when is it her turn to use her sisters math “game” as she calls it.

No More CDS To Keep Up With

Another thing that I love about this program is that there are no cds to keep up with. After using a box curriculum for 4 years that had dvds I was tired of having to keep up with them. I have gone through more portable dvd players than I care to mention and I was so tired of my girls losing them. Now I don’t have to worry! The program is ready and waiting for you when you log in.
